Tips To Care For Artificial Grass
Even though artificial grass is low maintenance and high durability, you can still take measures to ensure the maximum longevity of your lawn and have it looking its best.
Remove Debris
Occassionally your synthetic grass will probably have debris land on it, from overhanging trees or general use. Removing debris on a regular basis is recommended, either using a brush or by hand. You may also use a leaf blower. Organic matter should not be allowed to build up either as this could cause weeds to grow which may affect drainage.
Remove Stains
Newturf grasses are highly resistant to stains, but like all stains, the sooner you remove them the better. Depending on the stain will determine how to get it off.
Stains which can be removed with detergent and water:
soft drinks, milk, alcohol, coffee, tea, ice cream, tomata sauce, blood, juice, mustard, butter, glues
Stains which require mineral spirits and grease spot removers:
grease, cooking oil, suntan lotion, ink, nail polish, shoe polish
Make sure after using any products that you rinse the turf thoroughly with warm water. This will get rid of the cleaners chemical residue.
Use Weed Killer Annually
To help prevent weeds or moss, once a year you should look to use a weed killer or special herbicide treatment on your fake grass. Any vegetation can then be conveniently pulled out or swept off the turf.
Keep An Eye On Animals
From time to time your pets will undoubtedly use the synthetic grass as their toilet. This is not a problem as both urine and animal droppings wash off easily with warm water and detergent. Again, rinse with water afterwards. Your synthetic lawn will not get damaged by your pets bodily functions, and there is rarely any odour build up.
